School Safety Project is a mass awareness campaign, fixing non-structural hazards, practicing mock drills and construction of earthquake resistant structures to minimize the losses caused by natural calamities in Himachal Pradesh.   
Aims and Objectives: 
The following objectives were defined in the school safety project proposal:  
1.To activate and empower DIETs for achieving the objectives of school safety. 
2.To facilitate education department in preparing disaster management plans. 
3.To create awareness about school safety programme. 
4.To build a culture of preparedness in schools. 
5.To organize competitive activities on school safety programme. 
6.To initiate mitigation measures in schools. 
7.To enhance the efficiency of effectiveness of disaster risk reduction efforts. 
8.To promote knowledge management system. 


Teacher Education Institute Network:

SCERT is implementing this project with the help of Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) of the State. It includes all the 12 DIETs, GCTE, Dharamshala and SCERT itself.
